Crockpot Ziti

Ziti is one of my favorite meals, but what I like about this recipe, is that it takes the guess work out of it. Thanks to my man, Cooking with AB, for this super easy, but tasty recipe.

Ingredients

1.5 - 2 lbs. Ground Turkey or Ground Beef

1.5 - 2.5 cups Mozzarella Cheese, shredded 12 oz.

16 oz box of Penne or Ziti Pasta

1 medium Onion, diced

1 tbsp minced Garlic

1 28 oz. can Crushed Tomatoes

1 12 oz. can Tomato Paste

1 14.5 oz. can Diced Tomatoes

2.5 cups Water

1.5 tsp Dried Oregano

2 tsp Dried Basil

1/2 tsp salt (to taste)

1/2 tsp Pepper (to taste)

**********CROCKPOT NEEDED******************

Directions:

1. Add olive oil to your pan and brown your meat on medium heat

2. After it browns for about 3-4 minutes, add your onion.

3. After meat and onions start to break down, now it's time to add your minced garlic.

4. Continue to cook for 1-3 minutes or until the meat is done.

5. Move your meat mixture to the crockpot.

6. Now add your crushed tomatoes, diced tomatoes, tomato paste and remaining seasonings. Add salt and pepper to taste. (add more if needed)

7. Add your 2.5 Cups of Water, stir and taste. If the desired taste is achieved, move on to next step. If not add more seasonings until desire taste is achieved.

8. Set your crockpot on High for 3 hours.

9. Once you reach 3 hours, add your pasta to the the crock pot and stir. Cook for another 15 minutes on high and lid on.

10. Once the pasta is finished, add 1.5 cups of cheese and stir throughly until the cheese is melted.

11. Put the remaining cheese on top and put top. Put the top back on and check in five minutes. Once the cheese is melted you are ready to serve.

Enjoy!
